Spotlight on Africa’s Startups: ASEB 2025 Set to Empower Ecosystem Builders in Ethiopia

The Africa Startup Ecosystem Builders Society (ASEB Society) and Sahan Advisory Services proudly announce the 4th Africa Startup Ecosystem Builders Summit & Awards (ASEB 2025), a pivotal event uniting Africa’s startups and ecosystem enablers. Slated for October 1–3, 2025, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, ASEB 2025 will spotlight the architects behind Africa’s startup success stories, offering tools, funding access, and global visibility to drive sustainable growth.

ASEB 2025 Theme:

“Empowering Africa’s Startup Ecosystem Builders: Tools, Funding, and Global Visibility for Sustainable Growth”

Originally planned for Côte d’Ivoire, ASEB 2025 shifted to Ethiopia due to coinciding national elections. This move aligns with the summit’s mission to elevate Africa’s startups by fostering collaboration across emerging innovation hubs. Previous editions in South Africa (2022), Kenya (2023), and Ghana (2024) laid the groundwork for this year’s focus on Ethiopia’s untapped potential.

“Every good story has moments where the unexpected creates new opportunities,” says Mckevin Ayaba, ASEB Founder. “While we aimed for Côte d’Ivoire, electoral timing prompted a shift. Ethiopia, with its vibrant entrepreneurial spirit, offers a fresh stage for Africa’s startups and their champions.”

Sahan Advisory Services, the official Host Country Partner, strengthens ASEB 2025’s vision. Notably, co-founder Dr. Jibril Mohamed Ahmed (Ph.D.) earned ASEB’s 2022 Startup Mentor of the Year award, underscoring the firm’s commitment to Africa’s startups.

“Ethiopia’s innovation story is still unfolding,” says Dr. Kassahun Delene Deyassa, CEO of Sahan Advisory Services. “Hosting ASEB 2025 allows us to celebrate the mentors, policymakers, and community builders who empower Africa’s startups daily.”

ASEB 2025 Highlights:

  • OSCAR-style Red Carpet Awards Gala: Honoring unsung heroes—mentors, hub managers, and policy advocates—who fuel the growth of Africa’s startups.
  • Interactive Workshops & Ecosystem Tours: Hands-on sessions and curated tours of Ethiopia’s innovation hubs, connecting builders with investors and partners.
  • Networking Opportunities: Bridging ecosystem enablers with global funders to scale support for Africa’s startups.

“Africa’s economic transformation hinges on those who nurture its entrepreneurs,” adds Ayaba. “ASEB 2025 isn’t just an event—it’s a movement to recognize the backbone of Africa’s startup revolution.”

Why Ethiopia?

As one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies, Ethiopia symbolizes the continent’s entrepreneurial promise. ASEB 2025 will showcase its innovation hubs, startups, and policies shaping a conducive environment for scalable ventures.
