The day everything almost fell apart:
We had an important event with the children at SOS early last year and it was an important day for both the children and the youth in attendance. We even had a few important guests lined up for the event. However, l noticed for the first time during that event that our Communications Director had a weakness when it came to communication skills.

She failed to keep the invited guest updated on the running of the program and this was a disaster because we had ended up having to change the whole program. Meanwhile, the children and young people who had gathered with so much expectations on the day were getting agitated with disappointment and some very angry.

I was very infuriated myself but I had to restrain myself as I realized that would do us no good. At the end of the day, such situations left me feeling like l was working alone until I realized that all we needed was grooming so I began training them bit by bit through the year and we have made tremendous progress through doing leadership training and skills development programs.
